Mobile World Congress (MWC) is the biggest mobile event of the year. We saw the launch of the year’s top smartphones, smartwatches and tablets, as well as saw the emergence of the hottest new trends in mobile, such as 5G. MWC is an annual trade show run by the GSMA. The location apparently goes around Europe, but for several years it has been held in Barcelona, Spain.
Team Trackier marked its presence from 25-28 February. Those were the dates when the show was active. However, many of the big announcements happened at the press conferences on Sunday 24 February. The theme of MWC 2019 event was ‘Intelligent Connectivity’ which revolved around the technologies such as High-speed 5G networks, The Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Big Data.
8 main themes of this year’s event were:
1) Connectivity – Sponsored by VMware
2) AI
3) Industry 4.0 – Sponsored by Citi
4) Immersive Content
5) Disruptive Innovation
6) Digital Wellness
7) Digital Trust
8) The Future
Team Trackier visited Hall 8.1. Major companies were from the affiliate network, digital marketing agencies & the Ad Tech network. At Day 1 of Mobile World Congress, one of the biggest takeaways was the transformation of the digital ecosystem & the way users interact with technology. Presenters pointed to statistics that highlight how 53 per cent of users leave a website if it takes higher than three seconds to load or conversion rates dropping by as much as 20 per cent from a one-second delay.
Similarly, a separate Industry 4.0 presentation featured speakers from Google, BMW, Telefónica, MasterCard and other name brand companies highlighted the new technologies to enable a mobile-first approach to digital.
Thank you to everyone who met with us, shared insights with us, and raised a glass with us on networking bash.
Hope to see everyone next year.
